Parr Shakespeare

In addition to the Parr Shakespeare Teaching Prize, there are a number of other efforts supported by the Parr Shakespeare Center and the Gary Parr Family Foundation. All of the activities are to help provide for Shakespeare education and performances

Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival

  • The Festival produces and performs outdoor professional Shakespeare plays each year in Carlin Park, Jupiter and in Royal Palm Beach. The PBSF has offered its productions of Shakespeare’s works for over thirty years.

Palm Beach Shakespeare in Schools

We have for several years been exploring and implementing ways to support existing programs and bring in new methods for teaching and performing Shakespeare in the public schools of Palm Beach County. Donations are made to various organizations and schools to support these efforts.

  • Palm Beach Lakes High School has an exceptional teacher and outstanding administration that have proven to be an ideal school to set an example of what can be done.
  • The students have performed a Shakespeare play and woven Shakespeare solo performances into their classroom activity.
  • Ms. Bain, the lead drama teacher, has won the English Speaking Union teaching competition and earned a scholarship to study at the Globe Theatre in London in the summer of 2025.
  • Jayden Clarke won the county wide competition for a performance of a soliloquy and sonnet in 2025, which meant he received a fully paid trip to New York City to compete in the national English Speaking Union competition.
