Katayoun Torabi
Katayoun Torabi is an Instructional Associate Professor of English at Texas A&M University whose research and teaching interests focus on medieval and early modern literature, as well as the Digital Humanities. She earned her Ph.D. in English from Texas A&M and subsequently joined the Department of English as a faculty member and Associate Editor of the World Shakespeare Bibliography (WSB). After two years with the WSB, she transitioned into her current role as Digital Editor and Project Manager for the New Variorum Shakespeare project. She also directs the Graduate Digital Humanities Certificate Program at A&M.
Torabi teaches undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of standard and honors courses that are single, stacked, and cross-listed with History, Linguistics, Religious Studies, Modern Languages, and the Digital Humanities, in both traditional classroom settings and online.
Beyond the classroom, Torabi has been deeply engaged in student mentorship and academic service. She has served as co-convenor of the Medieval Studies Working Group, fostering collaboration among Texas A&M faculty and graduate students interested in medieval studies, and as faculty advisor to the Texas A&M Medievalist Society, supporting undergraduate engagement with medieval literature, history, art, music, and architecture. She has also directed numerous undergraduate and graduate independent studies and serves on doctoral dissertation committees.
Torabi’s research closely complements her teaching and service. Her scholarship, both single-authored and collaborative, has appeared in publications including the Journal of the Text Encoding Initiative, Essays in Medieval Studies, Humanities, ACM, and The Routledge Handbook of Shakespeare and Interface. Her work explores the intersections of medieval and early modern studies, textual scholarship, digital humanities, pedagogy, and scholarly editing.
